Industry Roundtable on Vital

by Todd Toth

We debuted the Big, Big BMX Show at the end of November with the goal of “bringing you as much BMX randomness in no particular order as possible.” Since its launch, the bi-weekly show has been a big hit with our audience and sponsors. Presenting sponsors have included Premium, Fit, Shadow Conspiracy, Haro, and Dan’s Comp.

The latest episode featured a roundtable with three industry veterans. Harold “McGoo” McGruther from SNAFU, Jim Bauer from Odyssey, and Chris Moeller from S&M/Fit talked with host Glenn Milligan about CPSC testing and the use of helmets in BMX. The results – much like the show itself – are informative and entertaining.

Check here to watch the episode.

Constant Progression: Vital Photo Galleries

by Todd Toth

We’re excited to announce an upgrade to our photo galleries. Photos are very popular with our users, especially our race coverage on Vital MX. The goal of the redesign was to give users bigger photos and better overall design. In addition, we added a slideshow function.

Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received, we’ve achieved our goal. Check out the galleries live on Vital MX or Vital BMX.

Take a look at the old version (below), compared to the new version (at the bottom). Both are shown at 75% of actual size.

Another Digital First

by Todd Toth

Everyone’s already heard about President Obama’s recent Blackberry victory. He was also the first President to have his official presidential photo taken digitally. A Canon EOS 5D Mark II is the camera that grabbed this digital first. You can see the official photo here.

Bob Dylan said it best: “Then you better start swimmin’, or you’ll sink like a stone, for the times they are a-changin’.”

True Community

I know several people who met their spouses online, so it doesn’t surprise me anymore to see deep friendships develop over the web. Nonetheless, it was awesome to see what several of the guys from the Vital MX forum and a couple other motocross boards did for fellow member Mike Leiby. Upon his return from a 15-month deployment in Iraq, Mike was presented with a Yamaha YZ125 with custom graphics. Click here for the story.
