We are super excited to debut our redesigned photo section! Our goal was to make a photo section that was easier to use, had more features, and encouraged more user interaction. From the feedback we’ve gotten so far, we accomplished the goal….and then some.

Chad from Malakye did a Q&A with me last month about Vital and action sports/web 2.0. The interview does a good job of covering Vital’s history, our concept of social networks within a vertical market, what sets us apart from other sites, and more. 2006 was a tough year for magazines. Especially magazines targeting a young demographic. Some of the biggest news of the year was that Time Inc shut down the print version Teen People.
Not surprisingly, the internet is sited as one of the reasons for the magazines demise, “…Teen People also fell victim to the internet, which consumes the hours of girls the way print magazines once did,” says Samantha Melamed of Media Life.
