Glen Helen Kickoff
Thursday, May 29th, 2008The outdoor motocross season got off to a good start last weekend at Glen Helen. The weather conditions couldn’t have been any better - 60’s-70’s all day. I heard it was 103-degrees the prior Sunday. Attendance seemed down from prior years. Maybe it’s gas prices, the new date for the race, the holiday weekend, or the economy - who knows. Hopefully it rebounds for the rest of the series.

While Todd and I roamed around taking snapshots and catching up with people, Steve Giberson (Vital MX’s content director) did the real work. Steve has become a permanent fixture on the circuit, having been to almost every Supercross and outdoor national since we launched Vital MX two years ago.

I’m still trying to figure out how to shoot action photos with my little point-and-shoot camera. This is turn one of the 450 class’s first moto. Mike Alessi got a great holeshot, but his lead was short-lived. Bubba Stewart quickly took the lead and never looked back.

I took what I thought was a decent photo of 250 class winner Austin Stroupe. Then I saw this great photo Gibey took of Stroupe.

Monster is spending serious money in motocross sponsoring teams and events.
